TO: Playa Del Carmen

👋🏽Good-bye Merida,

The Merida ADO Departure Digital Display $40 to PDC

I adore Mexico's ADO bus transit system. It's clean, comfortable, punctual, and covers the entire country. Think of it as Greyhound, but not disgusting.

Clean ATO Buses

This wasn’t my first ADO bus ride, it’s like my 3rd. Knowing this will be the longest ADO bus ride to date, it gave me a moment to appreciate the bus system. The ticket price for this one-way 3.5hr bus ride from Merida to Playa Del Carmen was about $40 per person. A bus ticket from Ontario, CA to Las Vegas, NV is about $50, which isn’t too bad either.

The difference with ADO is how frequently the buses leave for destinations, therefore you have more chance of having more room to enjoy your ride.

The bus station in Playa Del Carmen is located in the heart of the tourist area, so there is no real need to take a taxi if you don't mind walking a bit. We arrived in Playa Del Carmen at midnight.

The nightlife was bustling, making it very tempting to step into the nearest establishment and start enjoying our vacation. However, we decided it was best to first locate our accommodation, get our bearings, drop off our luggage, and then maybe indulge in some drinks without worrying about getting lost on the way back home.
